History and grape variety : The Maresco grape is one of the minor indigenous Apulian grape varieties, mainly present in the old vineyards of the Itria Valley. The name comes from that of the Apulian municipality of the same name. Ancient aromatic grape is grown in the provinces of Taranto and Bari where & egrave; has recently been included in a study program on its potential developments by the University; di Bari. It is characterized by a good production yield and a good level of acidity; of the berries which allows to obtain also in dry and sparkling white wines. The vine & egrave; of medium vigor and productivity; very high and constant over the years. The variety it has a good accumulation of sugars combined with an acidity; very high, a sought after characteristic and not very frequent in the vines of the southern areas.
Characteristics : it has a medium-large, orbicular or trilobed leaf. It has medium-sized, conical, sparse and winged clusters. It has medium sized berries with an elliptical shape. The peel is; glossy and thick, with an intense yellow color. From the vine we obtain a wine with a straw yellow color and a moderate intensity; olfactory characterized above all by floral and herbaceous notes, while light but very pleasant are the fruity scents. Good alcoholicity and structure are accompanied by good gustatory persistence and balance, and by an & rsquo; excellent acidity & agrave ;.
