The Winemaker

He is the figure engaged in the front line on the fields. It deals with the most operational aspects of the vineyard with the help of modern technologies and sophisticated machinery. The main activities concern various aspects of the vineyard. The winegrower plans the phases of the cultivation activities such as soil preparation and irrigation and takes care of the arrangement of the rows and cultivation. Always check the hygienic-sanitary conditions of the production process and the health of the plants, also identifying the treatments in case of diseases. It then continues with the pruning, harvesting and reclamation of the vine growing areas. Furthermore, it maintains and controls the machinery, manages the supply of fertilizers, seeds and tools. The skills that a winemaker must possess are varied and range from the knowledge of botany to the knowledge of the viticultural economy and the market up to the skills related to traditional and organic production techniques.
